Birthday Dinner and Anniversary Party

Friday Scott celebrated his 44th birthday. He had a relaxing day. He took a personal day and slept in, played a little golf, and relaxed. I took him out to a new restaurant called Movida in Livermore. It is a little tapas place. The menu is full of "small plates." We ordered several items, most of which are not on a Medifast diet. We had a hard time determining which was our favorite. Maybe it was the mini-burgers or the fried calamari. Or maybe the chocolate lava cake. It was a fun night of freedom. Now back to the diet!

Saturday night we attended our friends' anniversary party. David and Susan were celebrating their 13 years of marriage with family and friends. They had the party at our principal's winery (where my ensemble played last weekend). With their family, Susan and David renewed their vows. David was also baptized, which is something that many of us were praying for. David is in the late stages of pancreatic cancer. He's beaten all the odds and has lived and managed the disease for 4 years! He's something of a miracle case. Since the fall the cancer has gotten worse. Needless to say this was a bittersweet celebration. But David is trusting in the Lord and we have all vowed to him that we will take care of Susan when he's in heaven.

Windy Weekend

This weekend was a windy one in Tracy! Everyone is fighting allergies--runny noses, itchy eyes, etc. I'm sure that many trees and fences blew down this weekend.

Saturday was the annual Whiz Kids competition in Tracy for middle school. This is a competition for language arts. The students compete in impromptu speeches, writing and spelling. We had problems getting competitors because it was also the day for the band/choir competition at Great America. But the students who did go did well. One 6th grader got 3rd in spelling. One of my 8th grade girls got 3rd in speech, and another girl got 1st in writing and 3rd in spelling.

Today my ensemble, Ashere, played at Windmill Ridge Winery here in Tracy. This winery just opened this year, and my prinicpal, Stephanie Prioste, and her husband own it. We were promoting ourselves for weddings. Several potential brides and grooms came in, so hopefully we'll get some business this summer. You can check out this winery at http://www.windmillridgewinery.com/

Only 6 more weeks of school left!!!!

A Weekend of Scrapbooking

This was the weekend of our semi-annual trip up into the hills about Sonora, CA for a weekend of scrapbooking. Many Creative Memories consultants from the Tracy area invite their clients and friends to spend the weekend at Old Oak Ranch scrapbooking. This is about the 4th year that we've gone. My friends

Joni, Meggin, Nancy, Susan, Cyndra, and I all had a great time. Our goal was to leave Tracy at 4:00! Ha! We say 4:00, really mean 5:00, but Cyndra and Susan didn't leave until about 6:00! The rest of us went on ahead and we all met at Applebee's in Sonora and had dinner. When we finally made it up the mountain it was about 9:30. We cropped until about 1:30--some stayed up until 4:00 a.m.!!!!! We cropped all day Saturday and part of Sunday morning. I got a lot accomplished, but I could've stayed a lot longer! Most of the women go up on Thursday night and scrapbook all day Friday, Satureday and part of Sunday. We've decided that we're going to try to leave Tracy by 10:00 a.m. on Friday next time. Hopefully Meggin will be working out her childcare issue so that can happen. And next time Meggin's mom will be here from Kentucky again to go with us. We love having her because she's so talented and we can steal her ideas. The number one thing that we all want is a Cricut! We voted Susan the Most Likely to Get a Cricut, so we'll just wait to use hers when we need fancy letters.

Our picture was taken Sunday morning. I don't think any of us look our best after having little sleep and basically just sitting for hours and hours! Many of us needed a shower in a big way! But who wants to take time out to shower when your busy scrapbooking?

I can't believe I'm doing this.

After reading my cousins' blogs, I've decided it's a cool way for people to stay in touch. Now I know my life isn't that exciting and we have will have no pictures of kids for people to oogle over, but every once in a while I'll put pictures of Oscar and Elmo on the blog site.
